English support and localization

In my opinion, its is early to announce about English support unless the site is translated. For an English speaker it would be annoying to read articles on such a site and it can not create an English speaking community.

By the way, usually when programs or sites are built by smart people, localization support is created from the beginning and it is easy to translate such a site. I think, good localization should be created here too, so that if tomorrow you want to translate the site into German, you don't need to change the code, but only to create German dictionary.

Interesting opinion...

We did not announce about English support of the whole site yet - we just presented Alexander Khalifman's conference! Your suggestion "For an English speaker it would be annoying to read articles on such a site" looks strange: the majority of our foreign visitors come here (using an exact link spotted somewhere) just to read this material - not to look through other texts in Russian! Why is it so "annoying" to be able to read rather interesting answers of a prominent chess star? And what is the alternative? Not to be able to read it?!

Anyway, thank you for your comment - we may not be "smart people" and we obviously know next to nothing about "good localization" but nevertheless we appreciate constructive opinions by someone smart.

I didn't mean to heart

I didn't mean to heart anybody. Previous comment meant for the person who builds the site.

Localization is a technique of using codes instead of using real words or sentences in the code of program. For example instead of writing "Ответить на комментарий" text it is better to use a code "reply_to_comments". In addition there should be a file for each language that translates each code to its language (Example reply_to_comments=Ответить на комментарий). So if you want to add a new language, you do not need to change the code, you don't need to be a programmer, you need to create a new file with the translation of the code into the new language. This is simple and effective technique to create a multilingual site.

Все и так всё поняли.

Вот сейчас придёт Valchess и расскажет, что он думает о "to heart".

А если без шуток, то  не надо писАть очевидных вещей, тем более по-английски на русском сайте.
